A recent solo exhibition at the Peninsula Museum of Art

July 30th - October 8th, 2017
Vershina Bramble, 2017, cutmap collage and ink on paper 24x24" ($850 + CA sales tax.)
I transformed neglected paper ephemera into intricately
cut, mixed-media pieces with drawing, painting, and collage.
The creative impulse of these ’scissor-drawn’ collages and
rambling ink drawings find their source in a rich
exposure to the woodland landscape and
seasonal cycles of my Tennessee roots.
I spent considerable amounts of time in nature.
We lived near dense woods and were left to our own devices.
My sense of comfort with the outdoors and a trust in the
natural order of plants and animals were an integral
part of my early life and became the subtle fuel
for much of my present creativity.
I use this organic sensibility as a visual tool.
Perhaps also as a curious commentary
about our collective humanity, and our place in the universe.
